The things little ones say can make your heart melt – those first words, especially hearing ‘ma-ma’ or ‘da-da’ for the first time. Then comes the challenge of trying to translate what they are trying to tell you, the funny moments when they mispronounce a word in an amusing way, or the moments when they come out with something that you wish they hadn’t.
From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved Inside Martyn’s Thoughts’ latest list of the things that his boys have said and William’s mispronunciation of ‘disks’ made me chuckle as did One More Dad Blog’s four year old’s confession about dressing up and being the bad guy.
Last weekend, Sophie decided that she wanted to stay in with Mummy during the Sunday morning church service, instead of joining her big sister in the crèche. She was quite happily occupied for most of the time with some toys and books. Until we got to the prayers – more specifically, the part of the prayers when there is a moment of silent reflection for personal prayer – when Sophie decided that she wanted something other than toys and books and broke the silence with a rather loud request:
“Booby! Mummy! Wan’ booby!”
Thanks Sophie!
If you’d like to share your posts about something your children have said (or sung!), then please add the badge code below and link up with me. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.
Looking forward to hearing what your little ones have been saying.
Ha Louise I love it! I must write up more of the toddlers sayings as he starts to grow up and speak properly. This is still one of my favourite linkys I’ve not forgetten you!xx
Thanks Laura – will look forward to reading your toddler’s sayings when you get a chance! I remember those early days of life with two very well – finding time to do all the things you want to is quite a challenge x
Haha, brilliantly timed Sophie! Thanks so much for hosting – glad to be joining in again this week 🙂 #ftmob
Thanks Lisa – lovely to have you joining in! 🙂
This is awesome, and exactly the type of thing Boo would do! I am really sorry to admit Louise that this made me really chuckle =D They really do pick the best moments don’t they!! Awesome.
It made me chuckle afterwards – but was somewhat embarrassing at the time! Thankfully most people think that she’s saying “baby” which spared my blushes somewhat! 🙂
Ha ha oh no! The timing of that request! Lol bless her! 🙂 xxx
Lol, it was perfectly timed for maximum embarrassment! 🙂
