Review and giveaway – Tiny Trolls of Norway children’s microfleece outfit

As a family we love to get out and about and enjoy time outdoors together. I’ve always been a big believer in the mantra that there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing. That said, my eldest daughter Jessica does get cold very easily in the winter due to her heart condition. It is therefore important to keep her dressed warmly. We were recently invited to try a couple of microfleece outfits and accessories from Tiny Trolls of Norway. These sounded perfect for helping keep the girls warm when out and about.

Tiny Trolls of Norway is a Nordic children’s clothing company founded by Elaine Kobbelvedt.  It aims to encourage children to play outdoors through providing comfortable, warm and practical clothing. Jessica and Sophie were each sent a Fjelltroll microfleece top and trousers set and a Mumle Gåsegg cotton hat.

I loved the vibrant colour of the microfleece outfit, with the Tiny Trolls logo embossed on the jumper. The fabric is incredibly soft. The top was roomy and warm enough to wear as a jumper over a long-sleeved top, but thin enough to wear as an under-layer. Jessica often wears long-sleeved thermal vests. These can be a little tight around the wrists, making them a little more tricky to get on and off. The sleeves and neck on the Fjelltroll top are quite stretchy, which made them very easy to put on and take off.  It was ideal as a layer underneath Jessica’s Girls’ Brigade polo shirt to help keep her warm.

The microfleece outfits washed well and the colour stayed vibrant. I didn’t notice any colour run on to any other clothing. Admittedly I’m always very cautious about washing darker clothing with similar colours though. They can’t go in the tumble drier, but as they dried very quickly on the airer this wasn’t too much of a disadvantage. The trousers got very muddy on a recent walk but they washed well and soon looked clean and new again. The microfleece is still just as soft after a couple of washes.

The cotton hats that we received were a little on the snug side for the girls. However, they have stretched quite well. Jessica and Sophie loved the Tiny Trolls motif on the hats. They’ve enjoyed using their “pirate hats” as they call them in imaginative play as well as for helping to keep their heads warm!

Jessica also received the Lurvehette snuggly which can be worn as a hat, headband or neck warmer. She prefers to use it as a neck-warmer. The orange colour is a nice contrast to the dark blue of her microfleece outfit. The hats and snuggly fold up nice and small to go in my rucksack on days out.

The girls love their new microfleece outfits. They are comfortable, warm and practical. I am sure that Jessica and Sophie will get plenty of wear out of them on our outdoor adventures.

Oh we just love Tiny Trolls of Norway! We’ve got their winter suits but I’ve entered your competition to win the microfleece as well, they’re something we’ll invest in anyway if ever we go skiing.
